ScaleGlow Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 22, 2026

Effective date: July 22, 2026

ScaleGlow is a local-first personal fishing journal. This policy explains what information the app handles, how it is used, and how you can manage or delete local data.

Core catch records and photos stay on your device by default. ScaleGlow requires no account and provides no cloud sync, advertising, analytics, or cross-app tracking.

1. Information Handled on Your Device

You may enter or select species, quantities, weight, date and time, private fishing-spot names and optional coordinates, weather, tackle, bait, technique, notes, and photos. The app also stores fishing plans, trip-prep lists, achievements, appearance and language preferences, local reminder settings, and local Pro entitlement status.

When you select a photo, the app may read capture time and GPS EXIF embedded in that file to help fill a record. The app does not read your device’s live location.

2. How Information Is Used

  • Records and review: Display catches, spots, photos, and history.
  • On-device insights: Calculate statistics, trends, rankings, fish encounters, and milestones.
  • Trip preparation: Save plans and checklists and schedule optional local reminders.
  • Purchase access: Display and restore the one-time Pro entitlement.

3. Storage, Sharing, and Developer Collection

Core app data is stored in the app’s local database and private media directory. ScaleGlow has no developer account system, cloud sync, advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting service. The developer does not receive these catch and spot records through an app backend and does not sell personal data.

If you deliberately export a backup through the system share sheet, the destination or third-party app you choose receives that file and handles it under its own policy.

4. Camera, Photos, and Notifications

Camera and photo-library access is used only when you choose to add a catch photo. Notification access is requested only when you enable local reminders or set a future departure time for a prep list. Reminders are scheduled on your device. You can change permissions in system settings and disable or cancel reminders in the app.

5. One-Time Pro Purchase

ScaleGlow Pro is a non-consumable one-time purchase processed by Apple App Store, not a subscription. Apple handles the transaction and purchase record; the app receives purchase status and stores the Pro entitlement locally. Restore Purchases can recover an eligible entitlement from Apple. Apple’s own policies apply to its transaction data.

6. Local Backup and Restore

You can export ZIP backups. A basic backup contains structured records without photos; a Pro full backup can include original photos. You decide where exported files are saved or shared. Importing a compatible backup validates it, replaces current business records, and restores any included photos.

7. Deletion, Retention, and Uninstalling

Delete Local Data in Settings cancels pending reminders and removes catches, species entries, weather, spots, plans, prep lists, achievements, on-device photos, and ordinary preferences. Completed-onboarding state and the local Pro entitlement are retained; eligible Pro access can also be restored through Apple.

Uninstalling the app normally removes data in its app container. It does not remove ZIP backups exported elsewhere, files you shared, or purchase records retained by Apple. You can also delete individual catches, photos, spots, plans, and lists.

8. Children’s Privacy

ScaleGlow is intended for a general audience of fishing enthusiasts and is not specifically directed to children. It provides no account, social network, public content, or targeted advertising.

9. Changes and Contact

We may update this policy as the product or legal requirements change and will update the date at the top of the page. For questions about this policy or ScaleGlow’s data handling, contact:
